Commercial Sheep

About Commercial Sheep

We have a few head of crossbred ewes that we ended up keeping as replacements. These ewes are typically Texel Hampshire crosses. They are good-looking ewes with that great texel temperament. They are easy to pick out from the rest of the flock as they have some height to them and dark or spotted faces. We have thought about breeding this group early to raise some club lambs for local 4-Hers but haven’t yet. Its hard not to keep all the lambs out of these ewes as they have such character and make great market lambs.

We use the Hampshire rams as cleanup rams after all our registered rams have been out having their turn with the ewes. These resulting lambs do the best at the local sheep sales for feeder lambs.
